When I was in graduate school the pastor of the church I went to lived in this small house provided by the church with his wife and 7 children and used an old van. He was serious about Jesus Christ. These pastors and all pastors need to be held accountable.

These pastors are walking around, no excuse me, jetting around like rockstars and the church members are sitting around enjoying the show waiting for thier piece of the pie, instead of making sure they and that pastor fall in line with Gods word. The church purchased the home in order to protect their senior pastor from threats and give his family the privacy that they lost when they were urgently pressed into taking over the ministry including a tv show due the untimely death of the previous pastor.
Due to a weak real estate market and good credit the home was purchased with little or no initial outlay from the church. The church actually made a sizeable gain in equity from the purchase- and they are leveraging this into home buying programs for the poor.
The home was removed from the tax rolls because it is a parsonage owned by the church. All church owned properties are tax exempt. If pastor Ben wants to keep the home after his tenure as pastor — he will have to buy it from the church. Detroit World outreach does aid its members in times of need and feeds many in the community. There have been a lot of misquotes and misrepresentations in this case. I think the best thing —is for people to visit DWO and see for themselves. It is a loving, vibrant church that is dedicated to the care and development of its members and impacting the community for Christ.
