Born and raised in Los Angeles, the brothers grew up around bars. In , using money they made from their cellphone stores, the brothers opened Piano Bar , a warm brick-walled space known for its strong drinks and live music. Next came La Descarga , a Cuban-themed bar with burlesque, a cigar lounge and a dress code button-down shirts for men, cocktail dresses and heels for women.

But before all that was Piano Bar , a casual cocktail bar in Hollywood with no cover, no secret entrance and no dress code.
