Durante esta semana, R. We interview instructors, dancers and DJs, who talk to us about the sense of community behind this dance.
She talks about how she has chosen to express the voice of women in her films, particularly that of Latin women who are not represented in Hollywood cinema. During this week, R. The minute show explores the rich textures of Latino society in the city, focusing on politics, art, culture, and the traditions of Spanish-speaking populations across the metropolitan area. Each episode features prominent leaders from the tri-state area's cultural and public spheres sharing their thoughts and accomplishments with viewers.
Interviews are hosted by Mexican novelist and critic Carmen Boullosa and Chilean journalist and writer Patricio Lerzundi. They are all members of the academic staff at CUNY.
The series is produced by bilingual professionals from Colombia, Guatemala, Massachusetts, Mexico, and Texas. Read Article.
Launched in and held the last weekend of September each year, Ruedathon is an annual Cuban dance and endurance event, during which Casineros from around the world gather in New York City to dance Rueda de Casino through all five boroughs, tracing a path similar to that of the New York City Marathon.
Rueda de Casino is a form of popular dance that originated in Cuba in the s and has now spread across the world. When dancing Rueda, multiple dancers act as an integrated and synchronized group, moving in a circular direction and exchanging partners throughout the dance rather than dancing with a single partner.
