Sway and groove to the dulcet tones of this singing sensation of the wizarding world. Gather 'round for a stage show presented by the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts.

These adept players perform a trunk show using stylized scenic pieces, props, and puppetry to retell two famous tales of Beedle the Bard, a 15th-century author of wizarding fairytales. Parked on the London embankment is the purple, triple-decker bus, which stranded witches and wizards flag down in emergencies. Passers-by can look in the windows and see curtains, beds, an ornate chandelier, and a talkative shrunken head.

Inside, towering walls reveal thousands of boxes stacked to the ceiling. And within each box, a wand is waiting to choose its wizard.

This dark and dusty Knockturn Alley shop is infamous for its shady patrons, and objects with unusual and powerful properties. Build your wizarding wardrobe at this cheerfully appointed shop. Get there early. We arrived 30 minutes before the park opened and received special tickets for getting into the Harry Potter portion of the park.

Once in the main park, we waited in a line that moved very fast and before we knew it we were in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Extra Tip: Keep your group together, they will only give the people in line the tickets. Head straight for the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride. We only waited in line for 15 minutes, but by the time we got off of the ride it was a 2 hour wait.

Have your camera out for the line, walking through the castle is part of the experience and there are lots of cool things to take pictures or video of. Head to the Dragon Challenge second. People were still waiting for the Forbidden Journey and the line was not bad at all, 10 minutes tops.

Have your camera ready for this line too, there are lots of cool "artifacts" from the tri-wizard tournament. When you get off of the Dragon Challenge hop over to the Flight of the Hippogriff. That ride never really seamed to have a long line. It is kind of a kids ride, but the animatronic hippogriff and guy dressed like Hagrid was worth it. By now the lines for the rides are probably getting pretty long, go over to the three broomsticks, there should not be a line for the restaurant yet but if you go down the alley on the side of it there is a back door to the bar where you can get butterbeer.

We only had one person in front of us at the bar, but there were 27 people in line at the butterbeer cart in front of the restaurant. Take a seat out on the patio in back of the restaurant to enjoy the views of the castle. Now that you have done the rides and have a butterbeer in hand, take a stroll through the owlery and shops. By this time many of the shops had waiting lines to get in, but if its not to bad take them in now.

Also check out the line for Ollivander's. If it is more than an hour wait hold off. With the sugary butterbeer down the hatch, leave the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It is probably to crowded to enjoy by now. Go enjoy the rest of the park, rest, have lunch and dinner then come back in the evening. Check out the line for Ollivander's, if it is more than an hour wait hold off.

The park was a lot less crowded when we came back in the evening. Most of the kids had left. Bill waited in the Ollivander's line while I rode the Dragon Challenge again, and again. Well, okay I rode it 10 times in a row with no line at all! Have a pumpkin juice while waiting in line for Ollivander's. It is like a pumpkin pie dessert in a bottle. While in Ollivander's, make sure to walk all the way to the back of the store, it took you long enough to get in there, enjoy it.

With your wands and souvenirs safely in the locker, get back in line for the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride. If you choose the single rider line there is probably going to be a very short line to wait in. You can most likely go a few times before the park closes. Cruelly expensive for working families. I was so prepared to enjoy this event. I saved as best as a working class grandparent can for 3 boys.

Could not afford any good souvenirs. It was so sad to have to tell the boys that to buy them each a robe and a wand was more that the cost of the hotel for a week. The cost of the tickets to the two parks surpassed the cost of our airline tickets. It is as if they are telling the working class they are not welcomed and their pleasure is not of any concern.

The cost of a butterbeer in a keepsake plastic cup was more than a full dinner at olive garden. The architecture was wonderful but the space was so small that waiting to get into any stores took a very long time and was so tight that you were dangerously closed in. Their was only one to two actual rides for each Harry park and you needed separate entrance tickets to two parks to see both.

If you don't pay the extra park fee for two parks in one day you cannot ride the train The only thing to do once you have ridden the ride is shop and eat. I saw many sad children. The shopping and food is so expensive that many parents spent the day saying no. My suggestion Convince the kids you sent for it ahead of time as a gift. One hundred and nine dollars for a cape Plastic wands are thirty eight and up.

Park interactive plastic wands fifty and up. Feed the kids at the restaurants in Citywalk good food at more reasonable prices before you go in or bring a picnic. Burgers are the cost of a full entree at a 3 star anywhere else.

Just so disappointed. Really was looking for ward to it. The ride in the castle was ok.. The kids will like it Very short. Not worth over one hundred bucks. Sorry Universal Show respect for hard working families. We visited during the Washington's Birthday week always a busy time and had a terrific time, largely because of good advice from people posting on this forum and the "Beyond Disney Unofficial guide". We traveled with our two teenagers one is a coaster wimp and my 70 yo parents also not coaster people.

We loved the Harry Potter books and movies, and this trip was really all about seeing the WWHP, even though my 13 yo is terrified of roller coasters and "scary rides". Because of her love of HP, she sucked it up, and went on the Forbidden Journey, she won't go again, but she was glad she did! I am sharing our exact itinerary with TA readers because although theme park visits are supposed to be fun and spontaneous, there is nothing fun about being stuck in lines for hours!

The Royal Pacific concierge overheard me sharing this itinerary and how it worked for us with another hotel guest the next day, and asked if I could stand there all day and share it with guests, because it was such a successful strategy. Very detailed Well worth it and an easy walk to the park or take a boat We arrived at the park at , and were one of the first parties in our line, the entry plaza was pretty full by , and if you have to buy tickets, you definitely want to be there before PM as they did let us into to park a bit earlier than 8 AM - Ollivanders Wand Shop: On the advice of fellow TA posters, we queued for Ollivanders Wand shop first thing.

It did not officially open till 8AM, so we waited about 10 minutes for it to open, then we were the 3rd group in about an additional minutes wait. The show is short maybe minutes long. They encourage the smaller Muggles to stand in front so they can see well, and seem to select a child pretty close to the Hogwarts first year student age for the "wand finding". Seems like younger kids could slow down the show by not understanding instructions etc, so the older kids keep things moving and better match the "story".

The acting is excellent and the show, though short is fun. It was tops on my 13 yo 's list and we were advised to queue as soon as we entered the park, because the queue never gets shorter, and we noted this to be true, until about 15 minutes to closing, but I suspect they don't allow new people to join the queue for some time before they close the park. Immediately after Ollivanders, we shopped in the shop for a few minutes because we had heard sometimes there is a line to get back in later on.

We weren't there for more than 15 minutes before we moved on to -Forbidden Journey FJ : We lined up for the headliner at , still 40 minutes before offsite guests are admitted there was about 30 minute wait to get on the ride, but this really included the minutes it takes to physically walk through the preshow green house and castle area.

Once inside the castle, if everyone in your party is riding, you'll need to secure your stuff in the locker. At times the line was moving "too fast" for us to take in all the conversations that were happening by characters and items to see in the preshow area. We often stopped and let people pass, so we could take in the whole story and theming.

Unfortunately, it was often hard to hear because several of the employees are shrieking at full volume, "move along", and "you can tour the castle after you ride".

While that is entirely true My daughters wanted to take in the whole the thing and not just run onto the "ride". When you enter an area where you will be seated in a ride vehicle, there is a baby swap room where my 70 yo dad hung out with our cameras!

This is the place where the timid, unhealthy, short, or others can part company before the "ride". When you disembark the ride you land right in front of the baby swap room, so you will not get lost or separated from the others in your party.

Just a note for those with young ones We had a couple of timid riders with us, and the actual ride itself was very cool, though our timid riders were not ready to repeat it. My 70 yo mother enjoyed it, but started to get a little motion sick toward the end. My 13 yo held my hand the whole time, some reports say you can't hold hands with a child, but we found though we couldn't see each others faces, we definitely could touch.

If you had a very small child, maybe their arm would be too short to do this but I think that then the child would be too small to ride. The 13 yo liked the story, but she would have preferred it without the motion.

I wonder if they could eventually do what Seaworld does with the motion simulator ride "Wild Arctic" and offer a non motion version of the movie for the timid riders who are big HP fans. My DH, older daughter and I like a simple roller coaster like Flight of the Hippogriff or Space Mountain , and we felt this was on par with that, although being paired with the video does make it a little more intense.

None of us suffered any lingering effects from the ride and we all agreed it was fun, but went by in kind of a blur! It was hard to take it all in.

Shopping in Hogsmeade: As we left the FJ ride just after 9 AM, a literal sea of humanity was heading toward the ride down the main road in Hogsmead. The line to FJ, which had been starting inside the queuing area when we entered, was now wrapped around the wall leading to the castle with everyone crushing to get into that line. Upon seeing this line and the "sea" we realized how very worth it, that extra hour was! We made our way to the nearly empty shops, and to view the "facades" of other HP shops, as the general admission guests were flowing to FJ.

The end of the Ollivanders line appeared to be about shows back based on how many they take in each show. We had to press ourselves up against the refreshment cart to go against the tide of people. Once in the shops, they were relatively quiet and we could make purchases without a large line because most people were still lining up for rides.

After making our purchases, we headed to Flight of the Hippogriff: We were able to use our Express pass here and walked on, maybe a 10 minute wait. Again, our whole party went through the line in order to view Hagrids hut and get a look at Buckbeak in his nest.

Those not riding stepped across the walkway on the last car while the rest of us loaded into the coaster cars and met us at the exit! This was a fun coaster, like many of the tamer Disney coasters, no upside downs or loops. It was especially beautiful when we returned at night, to view the Hogwarts Castle all lit up from above. After reuniting our party at the bottom of the walk way, it was about AM and we had done just about everything we really wanted to see in WWHP, and the place was pretty mobbed, but had been "closed" at that point with timed tickets for return being given just outside the entrance.

In order to stay one step ahead of the crowds we went to: Three Broomsticks: Although early for lunch, the menu had just switched over from breakfast at AM, and since we had had an early and light breakfast remember- at the park at ? Our group had Butter Beers an excellent cross between mild root beer and cream soda; offered both regular and frozen Some in our party and fish and chips and pot pie We had no problem finding a large table by the fireplace where we could again relax and take in the theme of the place.

It was actually one of the best counter service meals we have ever had in Orlando, and that includes a lot of days in WDW with our group of 6 over the years! Had we wanted to ride the Dragon Challenge Coasters, we would have done it at this time because the Express wait time was only showing about 20 minutes.

However, no one in our group likes loops. As we exited, we were made aware as we left that we wouldn't be able to return without getting the return time ticket from one of the yellow shirted representatives.

We did return at PM that evening, and didn't need any type of ticket or have to wait in line; closing 8 PM and it was great to see the "world" at night, very moody, and looked like the movie version of Hogwarts! We mostly soaked in the atmosphere and attended the Triwizard Spirit Rally. This was a really neat show with the boys from Durmstrang and girls from Beaux Baton, dancing and mock fighting held in the place between Ollivanders and the Flight of the Hippogriff. After the show, the characters posed with people for photos.
