London roller girls

Posted by hooligal on September 10, This video is unique because I think we may be the only leagues outside america who play TXRD-ish penalty games, the bout was also played in a nightclub on possibly the most dangerous track in the world. Very rock and roll. And last but not least, I have a video from our fellow London league the London Rollergirls, of their last bout Summer Shovin. Just watch. Posted by hooligal on September 5, Inter Derby is back, huzzah!

Gimmie an email interderby at yahoo. Rollercon took place, the ultimate getaway and meet and greet for international rollergirls. London Rollergirls are hosting the first European tournament July th Stay tuned for details on that! The other team, yet to debut, is the Steam Rollers! And my own team London Rockin Rollers are set for another border crossing adventure to take on the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz in Stuttgart, Germany, also on Sept 27th.

A year after our first game and defeat, we are back in a bout aptly named Time For Revenge! Lesbilicious magazine caught some of the derby action in London England, and asked them some fun and silly questions:.

Roll Britannia — The draw has been made! Bloggers Wanted! Posted by hooligal on June 30, The teams have been seeded for the first Euro tournament -Roll Britannia. One team was drawn from each pot for a group, with no local teams being drawn together placed in the next group if drawn so London Rollergirls would not play London Rockin Rollers, Glasgow would not play Auld Reekie, etc, in the first round, Below are my opinions and predictions on the groups, and the tourny in general.

Birmingham have recently beat the Leeds Roller Dolls in an interleague game, and have also had quite a full on season this year, giving them much experience.

Berlin and Leeds are a fairly new teams without much bouting experience. I would expect Birmingham to come out on top of this group, the question being who will win in the Berlin vs Leeds game.

Royal Rebel Rollers. Auld Reekie are quite a new team but have been taking UK derby by surprise, recently drawing against the far more experienced Birmingham in a recent game.

It will be interesting to watch these two teams go for broke against each other in the tournament. The one to watch out for on Royal Rebels will be Inky Minx, who has guest skated in many bouts, including a London Rollergirls championship. I think it will be a close game between them and Central, but Central may come out on top.

London opened their season this year with a bout against Glasgow, a hard fought game with the points coming close at one point, but Glasgow ultimately took the win in the end. London will certainly be looking for a revenge win. But no one will be taking Rainy City too lightly, they have just played their first intraleague game with Glasgow guest skaters, and I am inclined to be a bit wairy of Northern teams, there seems to be steroids in the air up there or something.

Anyway, this seed finds teams playing each other with fairly good knowledge of the other teams, with the exception of London against Rainy City. Not sure who will come out on top here, Glasgow or London. The first and clearly number one league in Europe, LRG have a year more experience over all other leagues, plus two full seasons. Beating any team that comes to play them by incredable margins, the bets would be on LRG to win the whole tournament.

But its not set in stone. Anything could happen. Stuttgart have a good squad and plenty of bout experience. I also know from experience that these are the kind of girls who go back to training two days after a bout I need at least three recovery! Birmingham vs Auld Reekie. This would be a great one to see, as these two teams recently tied each other in a Birmingham home bout.

Auld Reekie have never played London, so it will be a great learning curve for them. Birmingham and LRR have not met since in the first interleague bout in the UK, where Birmingham won with a contested one point victory. Glasgow could very well beat us and then go on to play the LRG. Central may beat Auld Reekie and then there may be a Birmingham vs Birmingham semi finals which would be crazy if there was a London vs London one as well!! Anything could happen, anyone can win and cause great upset.

The thing about this first tournament is that no teams have ever been ranked in Europe ever, so no one has any idea what secrets some of them may hold.

But it will sure be exciting, so book a flight, buy a ticket and come see history unfold! Firstly, a list of all games played by European teams Firstly, a list of all games played by European teams Date Home Away Europetable Events Dec 06th!

Posted by hooligal on December 1, Two bouts on opposite sides of the world on Dec. Check out video highlights from Baron Von Strange. Everyone Loves Videos! Team UK and Australia. Team East Blue vs West Red. With some teams some jammers are very successful getting through the pack but with others less so. It just depends on the team you are against and the pack you are playing with. And for all those who kindly sent in questions, here are your answers.

I am the assistant captain for the Ultraviolent Femmes and Missyle Elliot is the captain. We work very well together and have worked really hard to develop the Ultraviolent Femmes as a team but I think our main role is to make the London Rollergirls successful.

Our league comes above our team. Across the league everybody is expected to help to make London Rollergirls work so there are lots of roles within committees such as the finance committee, PR committee, coaching committee, etc. Everyone does a lot of work and I would say I do more work on finance than in the role as captain.

We would love to be sponsored but income is mainly generated through selling tickets to watch bouts, monthly membership payments by league members and when lucky, kind people sponsor us such as Roller Disco. So if anyone wants to sponsor us please go to our sponsorship link and contact our sponsorship team. Our main problem is finding a venue and we would love to get a warehouse so if anyone wants to offer us a space…?

I think for a lot of women, yes, definitely. Some of the tiny Montreal skaters can hit really hard and some of the sturdier skaters are really agile! It is not. That is Sky Rockit asking that question and she is the one that got me into Roller Derby Laughter again. We were expecting to come 10th as the lowest ranked team at regionals but we all trained really hard and in the end we came 5th which was great.

I have never had any embarrassing injuries but Bexorcist gave me a black eye which she seems to forget when she complains about people hitting her in the face Laughter.

Every time we lose a bout we come up with strategies! Some of our coaches are really good at spotting how derby is developing and coming up with new strategies. The hard work of the referees and the NSOs non skating officials The NSOs take notes on scores and penalties etc and they do such an amazing job. Roller Derby becomes an absolute obsession. We play three or four times a week so it is very difficult to balance.

This sport is really a good outlet so it is the other way. Without this outlet for my physical energy I would explode. Team work bonding is really important and this seasons the Ultraviolent Femmes have really worked on this. The Steam Rollers have always had really strong team work and since we have started concentrating on this it has really worked for us too. Roller Derby is a team game and not for the individual. You sacrifice yourself for the team. Winning strategies This is a hard one Always coming up with a counter strategy so you know that if your opponents does something to you, you know how to defend it.

What makes a good Roller Derby player - speed, skill or a good set of tattoos? And what is your strongest attribute as a player?

Speed and skill are very important. Good tattoos Pause Irrelevant but nice for certain bouts and perhaps the visual aspect helps to pull in a crowd.

Speed, skill and mental understanding of tactics are very important. My strongest attribute Tactics maybe too I am also obedient and do what I am told Ninjette laughs. Having run out of time at the interview all that is left to say is thank you to Ninjette, London Rollergirls and all of you who took the time to send in your questions. Congratulations London Rollergirls for a great season and good luck in I for one will definitely be watching!
